QUICK BUYER ANSWER

The practical answer

Packaging is part of the product specification. Define the sales channel, individual pack, instructions, labels and barcode data before confirming carton quantity. Approve the flat artwork and a packed sample, then record final carton dimensions and weight for logistics planning.

Design around the sales channel

A wholesale master carton, retail shelf pack, e-commerce parcel and promotional kit have different requirements. State how the product is stored, displayed, scanned and shipped. Ask marketplace or retailer partners for their current rules instead of assuming one packaging format works everywhere.

Keep instructions close to the product

Include closure steps, intended use, care guidance and model-specific warnings that buyers have approved. A QR code can supplement essential instructions but should not be the only place for critical information. Review translations with a qualified native speaker for the destination market.

Control barcode and label data

Assign product identifiers through the appropriate issuing system and provide final barcode artwork, SKU, color, size and country-of-origin wording for review. Test scan quality on a physical print. Do not let the factory invent legal or marketplace information that belongs to the seller.

Approve the packed product

Check fold method, strap arrangement, window protection and whether printed surfaces rub during transit. Confirm that the bag can be restored to its intended shape after unpacking. Review the actual individual pack and carton arrangement, not only a digital dieline.

Use final packing data for freight

Carton size and gross weight depend on the finished bag and packing method. Ask for confirmed carton quantity, dimensions, weight and shipping marks after approval. Use those figures with your freight provider to compare shipping options and destination charges.
