Pantone Formula Guide color fan used for custom waterproof bag color matching
DryCross product or factory reference. Final specifications and evidence are confirmed for each order.

QUICK BUYER ANSWER

The practical answer

A Pantone reference is a communication starting point, not a guarantee that every material will look identical. Coating, gloss, texture, thickness, translucency and lighting affect appearance. Approve physical swatches and a finished sample, define tolerances, and retain references for repeat production.

Build a color map by component

List the main shell, secondary panels, webbing, zipper tape, buckles, printing, labels and packaging. Decide which elements require a close brand match and which may use an approved standard black, gray or stock color. This prevents the factory from treating one color code as instructions for every different material.

Expect material-dependent appearance

The same target can appear lighter or darker on matte PVC, glossy TPU, woven webbing and printed ink. Translucent films also change with background and thickness. Review materials under consistent lighting and note whether the sample is a visual match, instrument-controlled target or intentionally coordinated contrast.

Approve swatches before the complete sample

A small material swatch is faster and less expensive to revise than a finished bag. Mark the supplier, material specification, date and approval status. If several production lots are expected, discuss how color variation will be evaluated and whether one retained swatch can remain a useful reference.

Check branding on the final surface

Ink, heat-transfer film and labels interact with surface texture, stretch and welding heat. Approve logo color and edge quality on the intended panel, not only on paper or a screen preview. Record logo file, size, position, process and color separately from the base material approval.

Prepare for repeat-order consistency

Store approved swatches away from strong light and keep dated photographs only as supporting records. On every reorder, confirm material source and batch, especially when old stock and new stock could be mixed. Require notice before a material or dye-process change that may alter appearance.

Frequently asked buyer questions

Why does my Pantone color look different on PVC and webbing?

Different gloss, texture, opacity and manufacturing processes change visual appearance. Approve each critical material physically.

Can a phone photo approve production color?

A photo is useful for communication but camera, screen and lighting differences make it a weak production standard. Use physical references where color is critical.
